Geothermal Heat Pumps
The worldwide geothermal heat pump market is expected to rise to over 6 percent per year by 2024. Homeowners in and across the country are opting for high-efficiency geothermal heating and cooling systems as an alternative to their conventional gas or electrical residential units.
A geothermal heat pump rejects and extracts heat from the ground instead of the atmosphere as is done with typical heating and cooling units. Condenser heat is carried through underground pipes from the geothermal heat pump and distributed into the soil a few feet below the surface.
Because the ground is a consistent temperature year-round, the heating and cooling equipment does not have wild swings in outdoor temperature as with air source heat pumps. This consistent soil temperature is one of the ways the geothermal heating system achieves such high operational efficiencies.
Call 208-365-7473 and we can show you some of the geothermal systems Rocky Mountain Mechanical has installed here in Horseshoe Bend, ID. We would be happy to discuss if a new energy-efficient geothermal heat pump system is right for your home. Request geothermal heat pump service online today.
The US Department of Energy (DOE) Energy Saver page advises that a “heat pump can reduce your electricity use for heating by approximately 50 percent compared to electric resistance heating.” That means a heat pump could cut your electric heating bill in half!
That is an amazing savings. In cities like Horseshoe Bend, ID that often see utility prices rise in the winter, that is a lot of money back in your pocket each month. Rocky Mountain Mechanical works with homeowners and small office building managers to calculate the annual savings of replacing their old, electric unit with a new heat pump system.

If you are building a new home and pondering what kind of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system you should install, give serious consideration to radiant floor heating. This relatively new heating offering takes advantage of the fact that heat rises.
Here’s how it works. An electrical- or water-based system is installed under any type of flooring throughout your home. This system can be controlled and heats up to about 84 degrees Fahrenheit to provide comfortable room temperatures in the winter. As the heat rises from the floor, your living space warms up efficiently and evenly.
Many conventional HVAC systems in are more costly to operate because the actual equipment, such as a radiator or furnace, needs to be heated to a much higher temperature. As that heat dissipates or is blown through an air duct system, it loses much of its heat and wastes energy.
Although our Rocky Mountain Mechanical team can install radiant floor heating in existing Horseshoe Bend, ID homes, it can take some time, be disruptive as the flooring will need to be removed, and can be more expensive than replacing a conventional HVAC system.
However, once radiant floor heating is installed, it is easy to maintain and care for and provides safe, even, efficient heat. In addition, no vents or HVAC equipment is required, freeing up space and design possibilities.
Water heaters are a system in your home you may not think about until they don’t work when you need them. Whether this is in the form of a cold water surge in the shower or in the dishwasher not working, it is usually always highly inconvenient. In most cases, the fault lies with your water heater. What options are available today?
Tank water heaters are most commonly used, cheaper than their alternatives, and fairly straightforward. However, these are also typically the units that may cause the majority of the problems you may associate with hot water heaters.
Tankless water heaters, while more expensive initially, do have some significant benefits in the long run. They provide hot water specifically when you need it—on demand— and are generally more energy efficient than their counterparts.
Regardless of the type of water heater you choose for your Horseshoe Bend, ID home, our Rocky Mountain Mechanical professional team members are ready and waiting for you. Whether you need a replacement, new installation, repair, or maintenance—give us a call at 208-365-7473. Request water heater service online today.
Zone Control Systems
Imagine waking up in the morning in a nice, cozy bedroom and getting ready in a warm bathroom. As you head downstairs for your morning cup of coffee, your heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system lowers the upstairs temperature until just before bedtime while the kitchen is comfortable for the next hour. Once you head out the door, the entire house goes into energy-conservation mode while you are away.
That’s a very real scenario for Horseshoe Bend, ID homeowners who have invested in zone control systems. One of the newer types of HVAC technologies available, zone control systems feature multiple thermostats that manage temperatures in various areas of your home. When heating or cooling is called for, a set of dampers automatically opens and closes to redirect your cooling or heating to the calling zone.
In the past, managing this task may have required physically opening and closing vents, which can damage a conventional HVAC system if doing so restricts air circulation too heavily.
Our Rocky Mountain Mechanical trained experts can tell you all about zone control systems and how they can benefit your home.
Five Stars for Geothermal Repair and Service
My home is twenty years old and has a geothermal heat exchange heater and AC. It developed a loud knocking noise when the valves shut off. Bill and his employees went to great lengths restrapping water pipes and fixing the problem. His cost was very reasonable and the system very quiet. Very good job. Since then I have had him do other jobs for me and every time I have been very pleased with his work. Very professional and reasonable. Thanks. I would recommend him for any heating, plumbing and air conditioning work.
Once again Bill came to the rescue. The first day it got over 95 degrees, my AC started acting up blowing only cool air. It was after five and I knew Bill would be busy. I called the office phone but hung up and sent him a message. He called back and was able to talk me through some steps to reset the compressor. It worked great afterwards. A short time later, his son Levi called. He told me his dad was out of state and the office phone had been forwarded to his phone and saw the missed call. Bill could have easily had one of his employees call me back but Bill is very dedicated to his clients and chose to call me back. Five stars all the way around.
